AFC - Arrows For Charity

The tournament started as a brainchild of Amber and Joseph Bowersox in 2004, as a means of getting the music game community together to do something for the children in Oklahoma City that were in foster care or with medical needs that families in the area could not provide for. Being a foster child herself, Amber knew these needs and helped coordinate with Celebration Station and the Childrens Miracle Network to make a donation to the causes through a DDR Tournament, in which all of the funds from registration would be donated.

AFC 1 was held at Celebration Station in Oklahoma City, on a DDR MAX2 platform. The registration was $10, and every cent was donated to CMN as an anonymous donation. The winners took home a Red Octane Afterburner dance platform and 2 Playstation2 games, Zone of the Enders and DDR MAX. The total donation was $360.

AFCII - Charity Unlimited

Seeing as AFC was a success, plans for AFC2 started almost immediately afterwards. Most of the group played at Heritage Park Mall's STAR*CADE, and the owners were more than receptive to the tournaments ideas and mission. Wanting to do something more locally based however, Amber chose the Oklahoma Department Of Human Services Toy Drive as the donation recipient. This cause is still the recipient of all AFC Tournament monies raised.

AFC2 was an even bigger success. Over $500 was raised in tournament entry fees and donations. It also marked the first tournament in which T-Shirts were given to every participant, and they can still be seen worn today. Prizes were monetary this year due to lack of sponsorship, however the prize money was a donation made by Joseph and Amber, not taken from the donation funds.

AFCIII - Charity.(period)

After AFCII, it became an even larger event. Not only was AFC noted as the charity tournament(coining the phrase, "It's for the kids!"), it became the defacto championship tournament in the South region. People from Texas, Arkansas, and Kansas were all asking when the next tournament would be, where it would be, and how they could be a part of it.

For AFCIII, things were switched up a bit. The event was held at Cactus Jacks, due to STAR*CADE's closing, and the addition of a Pump It Up:Zero Tournament. The tournament also got it's first major sponsorship through BAWLS ENERGY. A novice division was formed, and added even more participants. Competitors were treated to pizza via Pizza Inn, and the event raised over $1000 dollars in donations and entry fees.

AFCIV - AFC GOLD

For AFCIV, this marked the major turning point with 4 divisions, the addition of a freestyle tournament, and huge turnout of over 60 people competing. Held at Le Man's Arcade on Black Friday 2007 at Crossroads Mall, this was the final tournament held in the arcade before its closing in June of 2008.

Over $1000 was raised once again for the OKDHS, with over $300 in donations alone from passerby during the Black Friday rush.
